MEETING CURIOSITY WITH CURIOSITY Stan Kuczaj, PhD delves deep into
the nature of dolphins, their play, interactions, communication, cognition.
We truly do not know so much about dolphins. Their lives go beyond our
depths. Stan Kuczaj and his University of Southern Mississippi researchers
are reaching into those depths, gently meeting curiosity with curiosity.

   DOLPHIN TOUGHBOOKS
The young bottlenose dolphin named Merlin has
chosen Panasonic's Toughbook computers for their visibility and sensitivity
in direct sunshine and varying temperatures. Jack Kassewitz and his Speak
Dolphin research team found the Toughbook to be successfully waterproof
and durable and easy to hold close to the water and their bodies. With the
dolphins, they will build a language interface for people and dolphins.

FRIENDS IN THE RIVER The Ayeyarwady River fishermen paddle out and wait,
sometimes fall asleep in the hot sun. Dolphins splatter water on them, waking
them, then corral the fish. Signaling with their tails, throw the nets –– now!
Jason Cressey visits and brings back a message from an older fisherman
with eyes sparkling like the dolphins.

GLOBAL WARMING "is of the mind/image of those who cannot see beyond
   the
gift of silence," the dolphins say in their message to Kathy Parra. It's part
of a larger plan for us, and for the earth. "Your body is earth, our body; and
earth our body is earth your body, we are one. Whatever your earth body
needs and wants, so too does Gaia’s."
